Darkstep is a sub-genre of Drum and Bass commonly known as Hard Drum n Bass which became popular in the late 1990s. It combines the dark elements of Darkcore jungle with highly energetic breakbeats. Samples commonly used to achieve this include the amen break and the firefight break.
